Mua Caves

We woke up before the sun came up our first day in Ninh Binh so we could bike to the Mua Caves.  We immediately got lost, I somehow threw my shoe in a muddy rice paddy, and everything took longer than we thought, but we finally made it, thanks to offline Google maps (always the savior).

The cave itself is small and unexciting (we kept looking to see if there was a different one), but above it are 500 steps up to a small shrine to Quan Am (the Goddess of Mercy) that has an amazing view of the Ngo Dong River and surrounding mountains.

There was a small park at the foot of the steps, with a nice pond, this little shrine, a religious scene, and some very random horse statues.
