The Best of Australia – Photo Diary
Sydney ✈ Cairns 🚂 Cape Tribulation ⛵ Whitsunday Islands 🚐 Brisbane.
Obligatory opera house viewing (not pictured, too boring), some fun in Cairns, a train up to hiking-beaching-waterfalls in Cape Tribulation, some sailing around the Whitsunday islands, and a trip to the zoo!
An illustrated activity guide 😂 :
Kuranda Scenic Railroad
This pretty little train winds it way up through spectacular scenery, ending up in Kuranda, a small village in the rainforest. They call it ‘where the rainforest meets the reef’. It has spectacular deserted beaches and gorgeous lush rainforests. We went on several hikes, saw countless waterfalls, some scary spiders, and some amazing scenery.
We did one of those package dealios and did the scenic railway and the Skyrail, a cableway where you ride in gondolas for 7.5km in through the rainforest canopy. It was amazing!
The Daintree Rainforest is considered to be the most ancient and primitive rainforest in the world, dating back to 135 million years.
We took a boat trip for a week around the Whitsundays to do some island hopping and reef exploration. The beaches were deserted and clean, and the underwater action surpassed all expectations!
Steve Irwin’s Zoo in Brisbane
We got to pet a koala, play with kangaroos, and feed elephants! Good day all around.
